Call for artist: Santa Clarita Arts

(Santa Clarita, California)

The City of Santa Clarita (City) is seeking an artwork to be permanently located at Santa Clarita’s Central Park. The City intends to select one artist or team of artists to design and fabricate an original, site-specific sculpture for a paved pedestrian circular plaza for Central Park’s new buildout.

The all-inclusive budget for this project is $85,000. Artist(s) are invited to submit portfolios of past work for consideration for a standalone sculpture. The identified location will be at Central Park, address 27150 Bouquet Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91350.

Artists 18 years of age or older are invited to submit an individual or collaborative artist application. Artist must have a US mailing address for payment to be mailed to and must fill out a W-9. Artists are required to have completed at least one sculptural public art project with a minimum $30,000 budget.

Art Prize: The 2022 Paula Riff Award

(Carmel-by-the-Sea, California)

The Paula Riff Award was created by the Center of Photographic Art and Lenscratch in 2021 as a way to celebrate and continue the legacy of artist Paula Riff. Paula was an innovator, using lensless photography and historical processes to create objects of remarkable beauty.

The Award is open to artists whose art is challenging conventional photography through work that reflects the artist’s hand, either based on the historical/alternative photographic processes or with physical intervention through cutting, sewing, etc.

The winning artist will receive $1000 and have their work featured on Lenscratch and on the Center for Photographic Art website.

Artist commission: City of Placentia/CalTrans Public Art RFQ by Arts Orange County

(Placentia, California)

The City of Placentia is pleased to announce a Request for Qualifications/RFQ to commission an artist or artist team to design and install two permanent public artworks:

  • Mural artwork for both sides of the W. Crowther Ave. underpass
  • 2) A large-scale sculpture for the land contained by the Orangethorpe Ave. onramp/offramp

Grants: 2022 Lucie Foundation Scholarship Program

(Los Angeles, California)

The Lucie Foundation is proud to support emerging talent with vision and dynamic ideas that challenge and progress the art form of still photography into work that compels. Our support of photography is broad, from Fine Art to Documentary and Photojournalism, to digital and film-based works. Our concern is to support emerging photographers producing work that is at once gripping, and original.

The Lucie Foundation is proud to offer four cash grants to support the work of emerging and established photographers.

  1. Lucie Foundation $3000 Fine Art Scholarship
    The Lucie Foundation is offering a scholarship in support of Fine Art Photographers. This scholarship is open to both emerging and established artists.
  2. Emerging Artist: $1500 Scholarship + Sony Alpha 7 III Camera Body & 28-70mm Lens
    This scholarship is open to all genres of photographic work and will be given to an individual to create or continue work on a specific dynamic project. Sponsored by Sony
  3. Photo Made: $1000 Emerging Scholarship
    This scholarship will be given to an individual to create or continue a project focused on creating a story through a conceptual Fine Art approach.
  4. Photo Taken: $1000 Emerging Scholarship
    This scholarship will be given to an individual to create or continue a project focused on telling an existing story through a documentary or photojournalism approach.
